The Ethics of Aristotle is one half of a single treatise of which his Politics is the other half. Both deal with one and the same subject. This subject is what Aristotle calls in one place the "philosophy of human affairs;" but more frequently Political or Social Science. In the two works taken together we have their author's whole theory of human conduct or practical activity, that is, of all human activity which is not directed merely to knowledge or truth.Notice This Book is published by Historical Books Limited (www.publicdomain.org.uk) as a Public Domain Book, if you have any inquiries, requests or need any help you can just send an email to publications@publicdomain.org.uk This book is found as a public domain and free book based on various online catalogs, if you think there are any problems regard copyright issues please contact us immediately via DMCA@publicdomain.org.uk

If I decide to read the Nichomachean Ethics again; I will buy a kindle version that the reviews point to a better translation for about $9. But this one is free and the forward is pretty long and worth reading. It gives an overview and sort of what to expect. Not saying I am agreeing with all that the writer said or that he was really thorough. Just that it gives a chapter by chapter account of what to expect and what the writer thinks about it.

Ethics Aristotle 9781532952951 Books Reviews

I think the Nichomachaen Ethics by Aristotle is one of his best and clearest works. I hold it in highest regard. Edition/translation is adequate.
A profound work of intellect, reason and speculation of the human nature. Interesting how thinking of over two millennium ago was so similar to thinking of modern times. That men still wonder and spectulate on the same subjects of life and the nature of man. Great reading
Great resource for aspiring compliance and ethics professionals.
If you are a student of philosophy (officially or self-study) this is a must read. The founders of America read and studied these.
I was rather surprised my son read the entire book for school and didn't complain. I do believe every student should read Aristotle.
This guy died in 322 BC. (Before Christ) So that means this book is OLDER than the bible, (well, before all the edited versions anyway) and it's FAR more accurate and ethical than all the bibles on earth can ever give you.

This book spoke out to me in large volumes. It's was kinda creepy, like it he knew my whole life. It was kinda like that movie called, A never ending story. Where a kid reads an old book in an attic somewhere, and as he gets further into it, the book is talking about him.
I was half expecting for this book to call me by name.

Like in one paragraph, Aristotle said that it's best to cutout all the people in your life that are making you feel bad.
I did that very thing to the ones that always treated me like pure trash all my life, months before I read this fine book.
And for someone that's been dead for ages now, and for someone with a fine mind as someone like Aristotle, I know I'm doing the right thing.
Don't forgive thy neighbor, if thy neighbor is mistreating you.

He goes on about 3 ways to improve yourself.
1 Self-awareness. To be aware of your flaws.
2 Self-discipline. To control one's self from natural urges (like anger).
3 Self-mastery. Successfully controlled one's own urges over a period of time.
Once these 3 have been achieved, you've figured out the secret to life.

So in conclusion, this book should be in every church, and every preacher should quote a verse from it for an hour every Sunday.
History is a great educator, and Aristotle's Ethics should be required reading for every ninth grader. It should set the bar for an individual's moral character. There is nothing wrong in re-reading in later life to see how you see your worth.
